Lauren's Kitchen
welcome to my kitchenBlondies. Because everyone loves a good blonde.
on Oct 24 in Baked Goods, Bread, and Muffins, Desserts & Sweets tagged All, Appetizers, Dessert, Side Dishes by LaurenI have an incriminating secret, but early on in my relationship with my husband, we used to go to Applebee’s nearly every other week for dessert. They have a cast iron skillet Blondie dessert, and the flavour has always stuck with me. So, with the house and kitchen to myself this evening, I decided to bake a dessert. First thing that came to mind? Blondies!!!!
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 pound butter (1 stick)
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts, pecans or cashews
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch square pan and set aside.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
Melt the butter in a 1 quart saucepan over low heat and add the sugar, stirring with a wooden spoon until smooth. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.
Beat in the eggs until well incorporated, then add the vanilla and flour mixture, mixing until well incorporated.
Spread the batter into the greased pan and sprinkle with the nuts. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the blondies look barely done and lightly golden or a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Enjoy!
